How?
Gender equality has improved over the past decades. But progress is far too slow. At the current rate, gender equality remains 171 years away, according to new UN Women data.
With rising global insecurity, combined with a backlash against women's and girls' rights in one in four countries, we need to reverse this trend. With more resources, better data, and changes in power structures, gender equality is possible. When women lead, democracy is strengthened, economies grow, more sustainable peace is achieved, and climate action becomes more effective.
